What a 120-Day Scalp Study Can Show

A published study followed 43 women using KilgourMD's dual-serum system for 120 days. Its repeated hair-shedding measures are useful, but the single-arm design cannot identify what caused the change.

Reading a single-arm study

KilgourMD and N1 Life announced a scalp-health partnership in January 2026. A separate KilgourMD dual-serum study, published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, now provides a chance to look closely at the evidence behind one existing product system. The paper does not test N1 Life’s delivery technology.[1, 2]

Repeated measures, one treatment arm

The prospective study enrolled 43 women with female-pattern hair loss and followed use of KilgourMD’s two serums for 120 days. Researchers measured shedding by standardized combing and a modified hair-wash test, then used dermatologist assessments and photographs to examine hair appearance. Visits occurred at baseline and days 45, 90 and 120.[1]

The mean combing-test shedding count was 60.3% lower at day 120 than at baseline. That is a change observed within the treated group. With no randomized comparison group, the study cannot separate a product effect from other influences on shedding over time.[1]

What the next comparison needs

The study adds structured observations for a particular dual-serum regimen. It does not establish how either serum works, which ingredient contributed most, or whether a different regimen would produce the same result. A controlled comparison would be needed to address those questions.

KilgourMD’s published partnership with N1 concerns future scalp-health formulations. The JDD paper should therefore be read as evidence about the system studied, not as a clinical validation of N1’s peptide delivery work.[1, 2]
